SOLUTION - A Widely Used Word, But A Reality At LMS Tech!

Today, local businesses are faced with so many difficult challenges. Owners, managers and employees face challenges greater than ever before to maintain and continue business growth. One of the greatest challenges for small and mid-size business is technology. As you know, technology is responsible for your business data. But, did you know your data represents 80% of your assets? Yes, that's right---EIGHTY PERCENT OF YOUR ASSETS! That's a huge consideration for your business's survival. If you don't pay attention to the technology side of your business you could get blindsided! What are business people thinking about?

What's on the mind of employers?
Rising service fees, employee productivity, rising cost of employee benefits, competition, short term and long term growth.

What's on the mind of employee?
Rising gas prices, the fear of terrorism, the fear of a bird flu pandemic, war in Iraq, looming threats from Iran, rising interest rates, rising health insurance costs and job security. These are all valid and justified concerns! Add to those concerns, the list of questions below:

  • How do I protect my network?

  • How do I maintain a secure network environment?

  • Do I have proper backup for my data?

  • Will I be able to access my data in an emergency?

  • What is the amount of down-time my business can tolerate?

  • What is the cost per hour of downtime?

  • How quickly can I recover my data?

  • Do I have a secure document management system?

  • Are my Email systems secure?

  • What if a disgruntled employee sabotages my data?

  • How do I know my software programs are all updated?

  • What if a situation arises that necessitates a virtual office?

  • Is my business in full regulatory compliance?

  • Do I have an effective Business Continuity Plan?

At the Speed of Light

The best part of writing this article is that I get a chance to slow down. There is a very good chance that the ability to know everything instantly, hear everything instantly and communicate your thoughts and wishes near instantly has reduced your patience to near zero. While the incredible tools of technology and connectivity have given you freedom, it has literally tied you down to the very pulse of your business and the world around you.

Clearly the ability to operate at this pace has made individual tasks remarkably simple. The same improvements have driven the number of tasks to an all time high, even to upper management levels that usually had separation from line operations. So how will businesses deal with this gift that also breeds an entirely new set of issues in management and personal communications? Clearly even a short outage or loss of email capability or lack of response from your mobile Blackberry/Treo device sends immediate waves of panic and anxiety throughout your organizations. Just losing a single email reply from a normally responsive client can immediately trigger thoughts of a declining relationship or possible loss of revenue when in fact your message was never even received on their end!

Managing this tightly woven mix of technology and human behavior will become much harder in the near future. Over time, as people begin to understand that our tools will sometimes fail, we will find it easier to accept the inconvenience of a down system.

To support a technological path that is going in multiple directions you require a single point of control that can be counted on 24/7. Reviewing your present use and management of your technology tools is the first step in improving your uptime and reducing the cost of your computing environment. Integrating an automated network support solution will free your staff and management teams, so all focus can be placed on the truly important business functions that drive revenue and earnings. Today’s fast paced business needs experienced, focused and impartial thinkers to make things happen. Let’s talk about how to make this a reality for you TODAY!

The Problem With Power
We live in the Information Age where countless data is created, transmitted, and stored. We live in the Electronics Age where numerous electric-powered machines aid in business and household tasks, as well as entertain and inform us. The reality of living in this time of technological innovation is that the power to run these machines can't keep up (at least not yet). What was built years ago for powering factories producing manufactured goods is struggling to adapt to provide continuous, sufficient-grade power to sensitive electronics processing valuable information.

Adequate surge suppression and backup sources of power are a necessity to keep your business up and running. Spring weather increases the likelihood of electrical disturbances that can cause downtime and lack of productivity. And It's not just a total blackout that can cause a problem.

It's a Web 2.0 World

Just a few years ago, the Internet was primarily used for one-way interaction. Anyone with Internet access could go online and get information, products, or services they needed. Fast forward to 2007, and many Web users are now enjoying activities such as tagging, blogging, and podcasting. This more collaborative, two-way Internet phenomenon is often referred to as "Web 2.0." Web 2.0 doesn't comprise any one technology or solution, but rather it relies on user-generated content and collaboration. The possibilities of Web 2.0 applications seem limitless — but before your business charts new Web territory, be aware of the risks involved.

The Web 2.0 phenomenon

In recognition of the effect that the collaborative Web 2.0 environment has had on our daily lives and our culture in general, Time Magazine named their 2006 Person of the Year simply "You." The editors of Time said they based their decision on observations they made about 2006:
